Spirit Guild is a historical fantasy adventure set on Long Island, New York in 1776. It pits four gifted spirit warriors from planet Rancientia—Blaken, Marston, Rowen, and Seddus—against Pan, a powerful Rancientian spirit who has possessed the body of a British officer on Earth. The cunning Pan plans to rule the planet by reaping its energies and enslaving its inhabitants. The spirit warriors take long-tailed weasels as earthly hosts and develop extraordinary abilities, which they use to try and thwart Pan and his apocalyptic vision for the future.
Spirit Guild blends fresh ideas with historical knowledge and traditional story elements to elaborate upon internal and external battles of good versus evil. It is is most influenced by J.R.R. Tolkien’s "The Lord of the Rings," Marvel’s "X-Men," and Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." It will appeal to mature readers who enjoy works of historical fiction and fantasy in general.
Co-creator and writer Matthew M. Montelione has a Master's degree in History and has taken great pains to ensure the historical accuracy of the series.
The pencils and inks of co-creator Pedro Lajud really brings the world of Spirit Guild to life and does an amazing job of transporting you back in time.
